CSS Bargaining Update: FAQ from the bargaining table

The bargaining committee has been hard at work at the negotiations table with the employers’ association ensuring that member priorities are heard. The committee is taking a break from negotiations and has scheduled the next round of talks for the week of June 20. Here are some key updates about the bargaining process and a few frequently asked questions. CSS Bargaining Update: Monetary priorities tabled by committee

The Community Social Services (CSS) Bargaining Committee is back at the bargaining table and has begun to discuss monetary priorities with the employers’ association.   The monetary package was thoughtful and reflective of the priorities identified for the CSS negotiating committee. During the first two years of the pandemic, community social service workers were there and are still there supporting children, families, and individuals in our communities across the province that have needed us the most.  

Summer Institute for Union Women – Details Released for June 23-25, 2022 Virtual Conference

Details for the 2022 Summer Institute for Union Women have just been released by the BC Federation of Labour: Registration for the 2022 Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW) has opened! This year’s Institute will take place from Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25. Attendees of this three-day virtual leadership institute will take part in skill-building workshops, cultural activities, political action and education sessions designed to expand their understanding of solidarity and build connections.

Bi-Annual HSA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Report Released Today

It has been just under two years since HSA completed an extensive survey of racialized members and their experiences of racism at work, the final results of which were released as the “Confronting Racism with Solidarity” report. The report “In Plain Sight” authored by Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond and her investigation into anti-Indigenous racism within BC’s health care system was released just a few months later.

HSA is now accepting applications for the 2022 Core Member Engagement Team. Applications are due on Sunday, June 19 at 11:59 PM PST. HSA is working towards equity and encourages people who experience marginalization (including but not limited to Indigenous peoples, people of the global majority, women, young workers, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2SIA+, immigrants and refugees, and diverse faiths) to apply for the HSA Core Member Engagement team.
