HSA is now accepting applications for the 2022 Core Member Engagement Team. Applications are due on Sunday, June 19 at 11:59 PM PST.
HSA is working towards equity and encourages people who experience marginalization (including but not limited to Indigenous peoples, people of the global majority, women, young workers, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2SIA+, immigrants and refugees, and diverse faiths) to apply for the HSA Core Member Engagement team.

CSSBA Bargaining Update – negotiations resume next week

Community social services bargaining will resume next week, starting May 16th. The Bargaining Committee will continue to discuss the issues that members have identified as priorities to the negotiating table with employer representatives.

2022 HSA Convention Brings Members Back Together

Nearly 300 delegates from facilities across British Columbia attended HSA’s first in-person convention since 2019, debating resolutions on diverse issues and protesting to raise public awareness of shortage and workload issues. The event was held in Vancouver April 28-30.

CBA Bargaining Update: Progress on Non-Monetary Bargaining Issues
The community health negotiations team met with the Health Employers’ Association of BC (HEABC) over the last two weeks to discuss key proposals related to mobility within health authorities and ways to make the collective agreement gender neutral and more inclusive for Indigenous and Transgender workers. We are working to ensure that everyone sees themselves represented in the language of the collective agreement.

In a submission to the BC government’s official review of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Sciences Association of BC has urged the BC government to consider a number of recommendations related to improve infection control measures, workplace safety and professional shortages.
