CSS Bargaining Update: New wage grids finalized

New wage grids for members working in community social services have been finalized. The new grids reflect the increases negotiated for the new 2022-2025 collective agreement and ratified by members last month, and are to take effect the first full pay period after April 1, 2022 (retroactive) and the first full pay period after April 1, 2023.

As outlined in the tentative agreement, the employer and constituent unions were to convene a Joint Classification Technical Committee “to review the compensation of CSSEA occupations similar to occupations under the Facilities Health Collective Agreement and CSSEA paraprofessional occupations similar to occupations under other Health Sector Collective Agreements”.  The review, which was to commence within seven days of ratification and was to be completed within four weeks, has now completed.

The new grids include includes all known increases (5.5% GWI and 1.25% COLA) effective the first pay period after April 1, 2023. Further adjustments will be made once the Health Sector Wage Comparability increases are finalized, which can include retroactive increases to April 1, 2023.

There are several professions-based wage schedules. Please ensure you refer to the wage grid corresponding to your profession. If you have questions, be sure to get in touch with your steward.
