Reminder: Important dates for HSA Annual convention – Deadline for submitting resolutions and early deadline for nomination of President
Preparations are underway for the 2023 HSA Annual Convention, to be held in-person over three days in Vancouver from Wednesday, April 19 to Friday, April 21.
The deadline for submitting resolutions for consideration by union members elected as delegates to the April convention is Friday, February 3, 2023. The deadline for early nomination of candidates for President is February 17. Early nomination entitles candidates to have a statement published in the union’s annual report for circulation to all members. The president is elected by delegates to convention.

Annual Convention:

- Pre-Convention Education Workshops: Tuesday, April 18, 2023
- Deadline for submission of resolutions: Friday, February 3, 2023
Election of President:
The president is elected by delegates to the union’s annual convention in odd-numbered years for a two-year term.

How to submit resolutions:
HSA chapter meetings are being held at chapters across the province to vote on resolutions and elect delegates to convention. All members are encouraged to propose resolutions, and participate in the democratic process of setting the union’s course. Resolutions are also proposed by the union’s board of directors.
Members who have specific issues that they want to raise at convention are encouraged to participate in their local chapter meeting. Resolutions must be voted on and approved by members of the local chapter before they are submitted to the union’s Resolutions Committee, which includes member representation from each of HSA’s 10 regions.
The deadline for receipt of resolutions in the HSA office is midnight on Friday, February 3, 2023. Late resolutions will not be accepted.
Please note that proposed changes to collective agreements are dealt with at Bargaining Proposal Conferences, held before the expiry of HSA collective agreements. Resolutions deemed to be bargaining proposals are not accepted.
