Registration Now Open for HSA's International Women’s Day Workshop

HSA’s Women’s Committee is pleased to offer an opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day by providing a two- day education workshop on March 8 and 9, 2018.

The education workshop, to be held at the union office in New Westminster, will focus on training for women to support increased participation in leadership roles at all levels within HSA, the labour movement, and in their communities. Participants will examine issues related to power and oppression, barriers to women’s leadership, and ways to overcome them. They will also learn how factors such as privilege, race, and socioeconomic status, affect women’s ability to take on leadership roles. The workshops will be by Natasha Aruliah and Jackie Larkin. Denise Moffat from the BC Federation of Labour will assist women activists to develop practical campaigning skills required to get elected into leadership positions, how to recruit women to run for leadership positions, and how to support women in getting elected to leadership roles.

Workshop participants will attend the Vancouver and District Labour Council IWD Dinner Waterfront Women on Thursday evening, a not-to-be missed evening of speakers and entertainment.

Registration is through My Events Registration and you will need your HSA member ID number in order to create a login.
