Join CoDev's solidarity delegation to Central America

HSA members have been invited by CoDevelopment (CoDev) Canada to participate in its 2019 Canadian delegation to Honduras and Nicaragua.

This year, the Canadian delegation will focus on occupational health and safety and gender rights in the Maquila (textile manufacturing) industry, and will be meeting with one of CoDev’s partners in Central America: the Honduran women’s collective (CODEMUH) in Honduras.  In Nicaragua, the delegation will be visiting  the María Elena Cuadra Movement of Employed and Unemployed Women (MEC).  The goal of the trip is to develop solidarity between Canadian and Central American workers through exchanging experiences of struggles for labour and human rights.  The tentative dates for this tour are May 14 to 23.

Through HSA’s Committee for Equality and Social Action, HSA partners with CoDevelopment Canada, a global solidarity organization devoted to fostering partnerships between civil society groups in Latin America and Western Canada.

HSA values CoDev’s important global justice work, and encourages members to register for this exciting opportunity for knowledge-sharing and partnership building. Unfortunately, HSA is not able to support members with the costs of airfare, accommodations, or wage replacement.

Registration forms must be submitted to CoDev Canada by March 5. The registration form can be found here.
