HSA seeks Region 8 representative on unions board of directors

HSA is calling for nominations for the position of Regional Director for Region 8, following the resignation of Joan Magee. Magee has served on the unions board of directors since 2004.

The new Regional Director will serve the remainder of the two-year term, which ends at the conclusion of HSAs 2012 annual convention.

The unions Board of Directors meets every month and takes an active leadership role on the unions committees. Board members are reimbursed at their own regular rate of pay for the time they spend on union business. Part-time and casual members are reimbursed as if they were at work during the meetings they attend.

To be eligible to run for the position of Regional Director, members must be employed in a chapter and have been a member in good standing for at least one year. Candidates must be nominated in writing by at least two HSA members.

This is an excellent opportunity for members to contribute to the overall policy direction of the union, and to represent the needs and interests of other HSA members.

For more information about the role and responsibilities of Regional Directors, and to obtain nomination forms, please contact your chief steward.

Nominations must be received in the HSA office no later than Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
