Health science professionals resume bargaining as membership survey on governments proposal continues
Mediator Vince Ready facilitated resumption of discussions between the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) and Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) this week.
HSPBA Chief Negotiator Jeanne Meyers said the two days of discussion on Monday and Tuesday were productive.
-In December, when we stepped away from the table, government had taken a very provocative position at the table. The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Committee chose to take a break to update members on the direction talks were headed in and to consult with them. We are now in the process of surveying members through an online poll that gives them an opportunity to provide their feedback on the governments offer," Meyers said.
HSA President Reid Johnson said the response to the survey has been high, with more than 2,000 members providing their feedback through the online survey in just two days.
-Our commitment to ensuring members concerns are well represented at the bargaining table continues. This survey gives HSA members an opportunity to consider the elements of the governments proposal, and to provide feedback that will help the bargaining committee work towards achieving a collective agreement that reflects the value of health science professionals on the health care team," he said.
Talks are scheduled to resume with Mediator Readys assistance next Monday.
The survey remains open until Friday, February 1. Members who have not received an email invitation to complete the survey are encouraged to provide their personal email address to HSA by Monday, January 28 at 5:00 pm to @email. A second round of invitations to participate will be sent to newly signed-up members on January 29, 2013.
