BC Federation of Labour occupational health and safety courses

EB03-22

EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO HEALTH AND SAFETY EDUCATION

The BC Federation of Labour's Occupational Health and Safety Education Project is now offering the basic course worker representatives and health and safety committee members need to be effective, as well as advanced courses on specific topics. These courses are only open to OH&S stewards who are members of their worksite's Joint OH&S Committee and can be taken in addition to HSA's two-day OH&S course.

These courses meet the criteria for the eight-hour annual educational leave you are entitled to under the law. Your wages and reasonable course fees must be paid by your employer.

Of particular interest to new committee members or worker reps, the basic course covers the OH&S Regulation, OH&S programs, safety inspections, accident investigations, safety committees and refusing unsafe work.
