Call for members to serve on union Trial Committee – May 28 deadline

As part of the union’s complaints and dispute resolution process provided under HSA’s constitution, each year the union establishes a Trial Committee, with election of the members of the committee held at the union’s annual convention, scheduled June 2-4, 2021.

Any member may forward their name as a candidate for election to the Trial Committee. Members do not have to be a delegate to convention to run for election, however, only delegates elected to the convention may vote on the membership of the Trial Committee.

Members interested in putting their name forward to serve on the HSA Trial Committee are invited to submit a statement no longer than 200 words, and a head and shoulders photo. Statements will be available to all voting delegates, and election of the committee members will be on Friday, June 4.

Deadline for submission of candidacy, including statement and photo, is Friday, May 28, noon (PST).

The Trial Committee is composed of seven members elected at convention to adjudicate complaints brought against members through the provisions of the Complaints and Disputes Resolution procedure, as outlined in Article 15 of the HSA Constitution. (attached)

Members elected to the Trial Committee shall take and be bound by the following Oath of Office:

I, __________, promise that I shall truly and faithfully carry out my duties as a member of the Trial Committee to the best of my abilities, fairly and without bias. I promise that I shall uphold the Constitution and principles of the Union.
