Brittany Sanders acclaimed as Region 9 representative on HSA Board of Directors effective April 5, 2019

Brittany Sanders will join the HSA Board of Directors as the representative from Region 9 (Kootenays). Sanders was acclaimed after the deadline passed with no further nominations.

She has worked as a medical laboratory technologist at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail for the past five years, where she has been a union steward, and is currently the Chief Steward.

In addition to completing her Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from the College of New Caledonia in 2013, Brittany has received a BSc Hons in Cellular, Molecular and Microbiology from Thompson Rivers University and a Graduate Certificate in Biotechnology from McGill University.

She is an active member in both her national and provincial professional bodies; the CSMLS and BCSLS, and organizes National Med Lab Week at her worksite each year because she is passionate about increasing awareness of the work of HSA members as a vital part of the health care team.

Originally from Merritt, she moved to the Kootenays five years ago and calls Rossland home.

Sanders replaces Janice Morrison, who served on the union’s Board of Directors for 10 years, including as treasurer from 2011-2013, and as vice-president since 2013.
