Social Justice Day - one day workshop, Friday February 19

Educational Objective:

To explore the issue of social justice and some of the efforts HSA and its partners are undertaking to bring about just conditions both locally and globally.

Target Audience:

All members interested in social justice.

Workshop Goals:

  • Provide a history of HSA’s Committee on Equality and Social Action (CESA Committee)
  • Understand what social justice means for HSA/union members and the broader labour movement
  • Discuss current campaigns being implemented by our partners that contribute to the fight for fair working conditions locally and globally.

 How would this workshop benefit members?

 It will provide background on HSA’s CESA Committee. It will provide information on ongoing campaigns with sister organizations. It will provide a forum for social justice activists to network.  It will connect HSA to the broader movement with respect to social justice. It will connect members to HSA.

Participants will receive wage replacement, accommodations (shared) and travel expenses in accordance with HSA policy.
