HSA seeks Region 1 representative on unions board of directors

HSA is calling for nominations for the position of Regional Director for Region 1, following the resignation of Kelly Finlayson. Kelly has served on the unions board of directors for eleven years including ten years as HSAs vice-president.

The HSA board of directors is very grateful for the contribution Kelly has made to the union during her tenure.

The new Regional Director will serve the remainder of the two-year term which ends at the conclusion of HSAs 2007 annual convention.

Regional Directors meet every month and take an active leadership role in the union's committees. They are reimbursed for the time they spend in official meetings at their own regular rate of pay. Part-time and casual members are reimbursed as if they were at work during the meetings they attend.

To be eligible, members must be employed in a Chapter and have been a member in good standing for one year. Candidates must be nominated in writing by at least two HSA members. For more information about the role and responsibilities of Regional Directors, please contact your Chief Steward. Information kits will be mailed out to all chief stewards in Region 1 this week. The nomination form is also available for download:

Nominations must be received in the HSA office no later than Thursday, May 18, 2006.
