HSA Election Campaign School

HSA is offering a 1 day, non-partisan election campaign school for members who are interested in getting more involved with the upcoming federal election.

With general voting day set for October 21, 2019, political campaigns are quickly gearing up and many important issues will start to shape the national conversation on who is best to lead our country.

At HSA, we believe it is important for people to be engaged in elections and be active participants in the democratic process. This workshop is for members who want to be more engaged, either through participating issue-based campaigns, volunteering time with a party/candidate they support, or wanting to better understand how we can advance critical issues for voters to consider when they head to the polls.

Date:  Thursday, June 13, 2019
Time: 9 am - 4:30 pm
Location:  HSA Office, 180 East Columbia St, New Westminster
No previous campaign experience is necessary for this workshop.

We will explore the election campaign of the Canadian Labour Congress, strategies for raising critical issues in the workplace and your community, and overview of how campaigns are structured and the vital roles volunteers play.

As part of your application for this course please answer the following question in up to 250 words, “Why is it important for unions to be politically engaged in elections, and how do you want to get involved in the upcoming federal election?”

On-line registration is now available for this workshop.  (Please log in with you member ID number.  If you do not know your Member ID number, please call the HSA office at 604.517.0994 or 1.800.663.2017 and ask for it.)   HSA provides wage replacement and covers expenses for members to attend this workshop.
