HSA Board of Directors elects vice president, secretary-treasurer

Suzanne Bennett, regional director for HSA Region 1, has been elected by the HSA Board of Directors to serve as the unions vice-president. 

The vice-president assumes the duties of the president at the presidents request or in the presidents absence and chairs the unions resolutions committee. This is her second term as vice-president.

Bennett is a youth addictions counsellor at the John Howard Society in Courtenay and has been a member of HSA since 1998. She was elected as a Member-at-Large in 2003 and served on the unions Resolutions Committee. Elected to the board in 2006, she is the first HSA member from the community social services sector to serve on the unions board of directors.

Board members also elected Bruce MacDonald, Region 3 director, to serve as secretary-treasurer, overseeing the unions finances. Bruce is a social worker at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. He has been a member of HSA since 2000. 

Bruce was first elected to the HSA Board of Directors in 2006 and has served  on the unions Constitutional and Organizational Policy committee.

Prior to serving on the board, Bruce was a Member at Large and Chief Steward at Royal Columbian Hospital.  He was also a union activist in both the United States and Japan.
