Government workers to strike Sept 5; HSA members encouraged to support in solidarity

On Wednesday, September 5, the BC Government and Service Employees Union (BCGEU), Professional Employees Association (PEA) and Canadian Office & Professional Employees Union (COPE) local 378 will go on a one-day strike.
Approximately 27,000 workers will strike to back their bargaining demands for a fair and reasonable contract. This will affect government offices, ICBC, and various public service sites in 153 communities across BC.
Should you encounter a picket line, do not cross. Contact your HSA steward. You can find your steward online at hsabc.org > Contact > Find your steward, or by clicking here.
If you cannot reach your steward, you can call the HSA office at 604.439.0994 or 1.800.663.2017 for advice. Outside of normal office hours, call 604.868.2499 (cell).
All members are encouraged to support the striking workers efforts by joining them in solidarity on their picket lines or other local demonstrations during non-work hours.
