Fraser Health Authority: upcoming consolidation of seniority lists

The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association and the Fraser Health Authority will soon begin discussions towards moving to a single seniority list for all health science professionals in the Fraser Health Authority.
HSA Membership Services Coordinator Dawn Adamson said there will be many steps in the consolidation process.  -The amalgamation of certifications ... resulting in a single seniority list ... is a key improvement negotiated on behalf of health science professionals," she said.  -Ultimately, this will result in much improved seniority protection for health science professionals in Fraser Health."
Adamson noted that the unions are concerned about the short turn-around time suggested by the Fraser Health Authority for the initial step: -For members who have more than one job status ... for example, regular full-time, regular part-time, or casual ... the employer has suggested they will mail a ‘status letter in mid-August asking staff to confirm one status.  The employer is also suggesting that they require responses by September 2," Adamson said.  -This is not enough time.  Well be meeting with the employer to discuss various issues, and well raise this as one of our concerns."
This consolidation arises from a memorandum of understanding negotiated as part of the new collective agreement.  The memorandum is available here.
HSA Labour Relations Officer Norah Miner will be guiding this process on behalf of HSA.
