Effective return-to-work program workshop offered by UBC and Physiotherapists' Association

University of BC, School of Environmental Health, in cooperation with the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia presents Ergonomic Assessment of Upper Limb Risk Factors for Effective Return-To-Work Programs. There are a few spaces left in the November 3 and November 29 workshops.

Musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs, such as tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, are a major source of workers' compensation injuries and one of the leading causes of work disability.  This interactive workshop places an emphasis on identifying, assessing and controlling risk factors for upper limb injuries and the formulation of solutions to facilitate return-to-work and developing recommendations for modified work.

The course objectives are to:

  • Explain the essential components of a successful return-to-work program
  • Identify the work-related risk factors for upper limb injuries in a variety of occupations
  • Conduct an assessment of risk factors using a variety of different techniques, and
  • Develop recommendations for reducing risk and facilitating modified work to prevent further upper limb injuries

This course, led by instructor Judy Villae, CPE MSc, is designed for occupational health and safety professionals, ergonomists, rehabilitation professionals, managers and others who are involved in return-to-work programs.

The course is oepn for registration November 3, 2007 and November 29, 2007, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm at The Arbutus Club, 2001 Nanton Avenue, Vancouver, B.C.
