Countdown is on to October 3 Run for the Cure

As BC leaders in the fight to end breast cancer, the Health Sciences Association of BC is an active participant in the annual Run for the Cure, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's most important fundraising event of the year.

As health sciences professionals, HSA members are the key health professionals breast cancer patients count on for the diagnosis and treatment of, and rehabilitation from breast cancer.

To register today, visit our Run for the Cure page and follow the links to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundations registration page.

THINK PINK WEEK September 13-17:

To prepare for the run and to raise awareness of the crucial role HSAs health science professionals play in the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of breast cancer patients, HSAs Run for the Cure committee encourages members to participate in Think Pink Week.

Here are some ideas from HSA members participating across the province:

• Sandra Wyatt (child life specialist, University Hospital of Northern British Columbia / Prince George) is again letting her young patients shave her head. See her story here

• A team at Holy Family Hospital organized a series of events, including a bakesale and silent auction. Items were donated by members; cookies were donated by a local bakery. So far they have raised $3000.

• Another team at St. Paul's Hospital are organizing a bake sale and basket draw.

If you would like to hold a draw for prizes, or packages of candy and jujubes to sell to raise funds, let us know. We can also provide all the leaflets, posters, and activity invitation notices for any event youre planning.
