Community social services bargaining: special meeting for SHARE members

TO:  HSA Members at SHARE Family & Community Services
FROM:  Sharon Geoghegan, HSA
DATE:  February 15, 2011

As you are aware, negotiations with community social service employers broke off in December.

At this time of uncertainty, job cuts, and layoffs, employment security demands are the best opportunity we have to protect jobs and vital public community services. Yet the Community Social Services Employers Association (CSSEA) is asking for concessions at the bargaining table and refuse to discuss employment security or improvements to your working conditions. The government states there is no money for wages or benefits improvements.

Your bargaining committee urgently needs to hear from members; community social service workers across the province have been meeting to discuss next steps.

HSA has organized a special additional meeting in Coquitlam to canvass the opinions of SHARE members.

This meeting will be held:

February 23, 2011 @ 5:30pm
Salon A
Best Western Coquitlam Inn
319 North Road
Door prizes!

HSA representatives will be available to address your questions. Please make every effort to attend, and advise your co-workers of the meetings. This affects every member at SHARE.

This memo is being emailed to every SHARE member for whom HSA has a home email address; if you did not get an original copy, please log in at www.hsabc.org to update your profile information.
