Applications invited for young members to participate in NUPGE Women’s Conference February 20-22, 2019

Coming Full Circle - Connecting the Generations is the theme for the NUPGE (National Union of General and Public Employees) Women’s Conference Feb. 20 and 22, 2019.
 
The two-day conference will feature a keynote address by Razia Sultana, Rohingya lawyer, human rights advocate, and Founder of Rohingya Women Welfare, and discussion about strategies for women activists into the future.

HSA is accepting applications for a young woman member (aged 35 and under) to travel to and participate in the conference with HSA’s Women’s Committee chair, Mandi Ayers.
 
Deadline for application is Thursday, January 24, 2019. HSA will cover travel, accommodation, and lost wages for a participant.
 
Young women interested in participating in the conference should apply with a statement including an expression of interest that includes the following:
 
•             Demonstration of some level of activism, in the union and/or in your community
•             What you hope to get out of the conference
•             A commitment to share with the union’s Womens’ Committee the learnings from the conference.
