Derrick Hoyt acclaimed as Region 2 representative on HSA Board of Directors

Derrick Hoyt will return to represent HSA members in Region 2 on the HSA Board of Directors. Hoyt was acclaimed after the deadline passed with no further nominations.
A pathologist assistant, Hoyt has served on the Board of Directors since November 2013.

Health Sciences Association of BC says today’s provincial budget makes critical social investments that will strengthen public services and make life more affordable for all British Columbians.
HSA represents 18,000 highly trained specialists working in diagnostic MRI, sonography and lab testing, physiotherapy, social work, radiation therapy, pharmacy, early childhood development and many other health science and social service professions.

BC Throne Speech focuses on affordability and services

HSA President Val Avery welcomed the new government’s first formal Throne Speech today, which focused on affordability for British Columbians and charting a course for change from the 16 years of the old government that saw support for BC families deteriorate dramatically.
Highlights of the Throne Speech, which lays out the NDP government’s framework for the upcoming legislative session, include focusing on affordable childcare and housing as major priorities.

CSSEA and CSSBA have agreed on the distribution of the April 1, 2018 Comparability and Classification Anomaly Wage Increases. The intention of the Comparability Adjustment is to close the wage gap with comparator classifications in Community Health. The detailed agreement and wage schedules is here.
