Community health sector workers, including 1000 HSA members, have voted in favour of a tentative agreement reached with health employers. The three-year will take effect April 1, 2019 and expire March 31, 2022.

Research demonstrates that 62 per cent of working-age individuals return to work within the first year of receiving a cancer diagnosis. Yet navigating the return to work process can be challenging for cancer survivors, employers, and heath care practitioners, who all play a vital role facilitating a patient’s smooth transition back to work, to new employment, or to modified work.
The Community Bargaining Association and the Health Employers’ Association of British Columbia have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective agreement.
HSA represents almost 1000 members in the bargaining association and was represented at the bargaining table by staff negotiator Jessica Derynck and member representative Katherine Oliver, a child care assistant at Thompson Nicola Family Resource Society.
The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) continues to negotiate with the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) on non-monetary proposals. Both parties have agreed to increase their negotiating days and are therefore preparing to work through the weekend towards an agreement.
