Research demonstrates that 62 per cent of working-age individuals return to work within the first year of receiving a cancer diagnosis. The Community Bargaining Association and the Health Employers’ Association of British Columbia have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective agreement.
HSA represents almost 1000 members in the bargaining association and was represented at the bargaining table by staff negotiator Jessica Derynck and member representative Katherine Oliver, a child care assistant at Thompson Nicola Family Resource Society.

Hale elected to HSA Board of Directors

HSA members in Region 8 have elected Cherylee Hale as their representative on the union’s Board of Directors. Her election is effective immediately for a two-year term that ends at conclusion of HSA’s annual convention in 2020.

Hale is a cardiology technologist working at Penticton Regional Hospital and Kelowna General Hospital. She has also worked at Kootenay Lake Hospital and Trail Regional Hospital. For 28 years throughout her working career, she has been an active union member, initially with HEU and then as an HSA member.
