Time for Change Tour

The Canadian Labour Congress is kicking off the labour movement's initiative to engage members in issues that will be important to working people in the upcoming federal election.  Issues like health care, child care, retirement security and the creation of good, family-supporting jobs.

This fall we'll elect a new government, and you can be a part of it.

Taking RT to the streets

HSA REPORT, DECEMBER 2014

Professional recognition days, weeks and months come and go.

Posters go up on bulletin boards, posts go up on social media sites. Maybe there’s cupcakes. It’s a great chance to educate and celebrate the work that makes our health care and community social service systems work, but it’s getting harder to break through the noise and distractions of modern life.

That’s why a group of respiratory therapists decided to do something a little different for October’s RT Week.

A new home, with room to grow

HSA REPORT, DECEMBER 2014

By Val Avery, President

HSA's first office was a little place on Kingsway.

As the number of members grew steadily, so did the need to find new space. We soon moved to an office on Hastings at Boundary, staying there until 1994, when we moved to Metrotown. Only a few years later, in 1998, we moved to the offices many of you know on Joyce Street.

Now, it's time to move again.

HSA is moving

Regional conference gives BCFED province-wide focus

BC Fed regional conference

HSA REPORT, JUNE 2014

"We need to be the BC Federation of Labour – not the Downtown Vancouver Federation of Labour."

That's how Jim Sinclair, BC Fed President, opened The fourth BC Federation of Labour Regional Conference was held June 6-7 in Kimberley. He was remembering the words of a delegate to the convention that saw the Federation move from annual to biannual conventions.

Rally Thursday to support teachers

BC's labour leaders have issued a statement of solidarity with BC’s teachers, who started full-scale strike action across the province today, and are organizing a solidarity rally for Thursday, June 19.

Teachers are holding strong against the BC Liberal government’s assault on our public education system. We need to send a clear message to Christy Clark and the BC Liberals that they must respect the work of our teachers and negotiate a settlement in good faith.

The B.C. Federation of Labour and the BC Teachers’ Federation are co-hosting a rally:
