Federal government quietly awards wage increases to top officials

Ottawa  - The federal government has awarded raises of 2.5% to top government executives and deputy ministers along with 3% increases to the heads of crown corporations.

The increases were not announced officially by the new Conservative government, which made accountability to voters a hallmark of its election campaign last January.

The TELUS Tour for the Cure is an informative and interactive exhibit that will travel to communities across British Columbia over the next eight months to promote the value and importance of breast health and mammography screening.  The Tour is part of a campaign by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to help women detect smaller tumors earlier.

HSA Runs for the Cure: Join the team today!

HSA has formed a provincial team to participate in the Run for the Cure, to be held Sunday, October 1 across Canada and in ten communities across B.C.: Abbotford/Fraser Valley, Castlegar, Golden, Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Port McNeill, Prince George, Vancouver, and Victoria.Family, friends and colleagues are welcome to join the Health Sciences Association team.

Join the Walk for Peace, Justice and Sustainability, Saturday, June 24, 2006

The HSA Committee for Equality and Social Action (CESA) is urging all HSA members in the Lower Mainland to participate in this years Walk for Peace, Justice and Sustainability on Saturday, June 24 in Vancouver.  The walk is being held in conjunction with the World Peace Forum which was enthusiastically endorsed by delegates to HSAs 2006 annual convention in April.

HSA members will gather at 12:00 noon at Canada Place, in front of the Convention Centre (-the sails") on the Stanley Park side.  Look for the HSA flags!
