NUPGE says national leadership needed on Pharmacare

Ottawa - The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) joins the Canadian Health Coalition (CHC) in welcoming the latest progress report on a National Pharmaceutical Strategy (NPS), compiled by provincial health ministers.

The strategy should work to improve pharmaceutical management and help offset the impact of catastrophic drug costs for Canadians.

There is a point during the Canadian summer when one starts to think of the fall. It's mid-August and the garden has just peaked. Kids are complaining that they are bored. You can hear the crickets at night. It's a classic Canadian summer.

Challenges Labour Minister to deal with inequality facing working families

The B.C. Federation of Labour has challenged Olga Illich, the newly-appointed Minister of Labour, to deal with the growing inequality facing working families says President Jim Sinclair.

"Employment standards are the lowest in Canada and too many people are dying or are injured on the job," said Sinclair. "The new Minister has her work cut out for her. This government didn't need a new Labour Minister, it needs new policies to deal with the really difficult situation facing thousands of working people."
