Retirement planning: Municipal Pension Plan seminars scheduled

The Municipal Pension Plan is hosting retirement seminars in the coming months at various locations throughout B.C.

Who can attend?
All plan members are welcome, including those receiving long-term disability (LTD) benefits. There is no charge to attend and guests and spouses are invited.

Scholarships and bursaries available for HSA members and their families

HSA is offering scholarships and bursaries to all members and their children. We will be awarding ten scholarships for full-time studies, ten bursaries for full-time studies and two aboriginal scholarships.

Victoria meeting on trade, investment and labour mobility agreement

BC and Alberta have inked a new pact, the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) that will increase privatization, allow private investors to challenge public programs, policies and regulations, and restrict governments ability to act in the public interest.

Discuss what social activists can do about it at a public meeting 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 17 at the Maritime Labour Centre, 1880 Triumph at Victoria, Vancouver, B.C.

The provincial government has announced the dates for the regional forums on health care.

Deadline for registration for the forum in Nanaimo is January 12.

Health care professionals have been barred from participating in the public forums, but are encouraged to participate in 'professional forums.'  In Kelowna, the 'professional' forum is scheduled for Feb. 16.

In past years, the Health Sciences Association has marked the holiday season with cards of thanks and greetings to activists, colleagues, supporters and suppliersto thank you for the work you do with us throughout the year.

HSA members will soon be preparing for the 2007 HSA Convention, to be held April 19, 20, & 21, 2007 at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver.

Conventions are where chapters from around the province determine the future direction of the union.  Policies, actions, constitutional amendments, structural changes are all discussed and debated at convention.
