In past years, the Health Sciences Association has marked the holiday season with cards of thanks and greetings to activists, colleagues, supporters and suppliersto thank you for the work you do with us throughout the year.

HSA members will soon be preparing for the 2007 HSA Convention, to be held April 19, 20, & 21, 2007 at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver.

Conventions are where chapters from around the province determine the future direction of the union.  Policies, actions, constitutional amendments, structural changes are all discussed and debated at convention.

Rally Nov. 30 to protest private emergency clinic

Health care workers are invited to join delegates to the B.C. Federation of Labours 50th Convention who will be rallying outside of Vancouver City Hall in protest of Canadas first private-for-profit emergency clinic.

LOCATION:  VANCOUVER CITY HALL
   453 West 12th at Cambie

Speakers will include representatives of front line health care workers, seniors, and the B.C. Health Coalition.

HSA to be represented at 50th anniversary B.C. Federation of Labour convention

HSA will be represented by 38 delegates to the 50th annual convention of the B.C. Federation of Labour November 27 to December 1.

This year's theme: "A proud history. A strong future." celebrates the B.C. Federation's 50th Anniversary. Highlights will include discussion of the future of BC's resource communities, resolutions regarding the growing exploitation of temporary international workers, and reports on the future of organizing and how we grow our movement.

Stop Health Care Privatization: Town Hall Meeting - November 16

Speakers from the Council of Canadians and BC Health Coalition will explore issues of:

- upgrading TWO hospitals
- curtailing regionalization
- keeping hospitals public, not private
- what a real "conversation on health" entails

Survivors' Parade of Hope to launch Run for the Cure September 9

You're invited to join the second annual province wide kick-off event for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure

The Survivors' Parade of Hope will be held in seven cities across B.C. on September 9, 2006. The Survivors' Parade of Hope unites breast cancer survivors from around the province's communities on the same day -- demonstrating that there is hope for those newly diagnosed with the disease and that a future without breast cancer can be achieved.

TELUS Tour for the Cure arrives in Nelson

HSA members are invited to attend the official opening for the TELUS Tour for the Cure in Nelson on Thursday, August 16th at 11 a.m. at Chahko Mika Mall.

The TELUS Tour for the Cure is an informative and interactive exhibit that will travel to communities across British Columbia over the next eight months to promote the value and importance of breast health and mammography screening.  The Tour is part of a campaign by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to help women detect smaller tumors earlier.
